NTA Invites Subject Matter Experts to Strengthen National Examination Standards

A call for experienced educators, researchers, and academicians to fortify evaluation integrity, moderation, and multilingual assessment across India.

In a strategic initiative to enhance academic quality, maintain uncompromising evaluation integrity, and ensure rigorous assessment benchmarks for nationwide entrance and competitive examinations, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from experienced educators, researchers, and domain academicians to join its panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

As the NTA continues to manage high-stakes national assessments, this drive aims to integrate the finest academic minds across the country into its core test development and evaluation frameworks.

Key Roles and Academic Responsibilities

Empaneled Subject Matter Experts will play a pivotal role across multiple stages of examination architecture and material development. The primary responsibilities assigned to the experts include:

Item Creation & Question Design: Developing high-quality assessment items aligned strictly with prescribed curricula. Questions will be designed to evaluate candidates' deep conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and practical application skills rather than rote learning.

Review & Pedagogical Vetting: Thoroughly auditing and screening proposed examination questions for conceptual accuracy, linguistic clarity, structural integrity, and appropriate difficulty calibration.

Content Moderation: Conducting structured moderation processes to establish uniform standardisation, eliminate bias, and guarantee complete fairness across diverse question sets.

Translation & Transadaptation: Translating and culturally adapting test material into various regional Indian languages. Experts will ensure that translated content remains accurate, linguistically precise, and contextually appropriate without altering the core pedagogical intent of the questions.

Eligibility Criteria & Application Guidelines

The NTA is seeking applications from both serving and retired professionals possessing proven expertise, demonstrated academic merit, and extensive teaching or research experience in their respective disciplines.

Eligible Categories:

Serving and Retired University Professors & College Faculty Members

This initiative reflects the NTA's ongoing commitment to fostering an equitable, transparent, and robust evaluation ecosystem for millions of students across India.
